NEW DELHI: Even as most telecom stocks were trading with gains, losses in Bharti Airtel (down 4.08 per cent) and GTPL Hathway (down 3.66 per cent) were keeping the sectoral index down.The BSE Telecom index was trading 0.93 per cent down at 1,187 around 02:50 pm.
Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 0.99 per cent) and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 0.58 per cent) too were the losers.
However, Reliance Communications (up 11.17 per cent) was soaring high.
Tejas Networks (up 4.85 per cent), ITI (up 3.96 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (up 2.33 per cent), MTNL (up 2.23 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 1.88 per cent), Idea Cellular (up 1.81 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (up 1.60 per cent), Tata Communications (up 1.55 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (up 1.40 per cent), Bharti Infratel (up 1.19 per cent) and GTL (up 0.27 per cent) were trading with gains.
Market continued to be in the positive zone on gains in heavyweights, including ICICI Bank, Infosys and Axis Bank.
Benchmark BSE Sensex was up 136 points at 38,023, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 24 points at 11,474.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.
In the Sensex kitty, 19 stocks were advancing, while 12 were declining.ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and State Bank of India were leading the Sensex index.
Bharti Airtel, ONGC and HDFC Bank were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
