NEW DELHI: Shares of Bharat Forge (down 2.75 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (down 2.49 per cent), TVS Motor Company (down 1.98 per cent) and Eicher Motors (down 1.76 per cent) were trading in the negative zone in afternoon trade on Monday, keeping the auto index down.
The BSE Auto index was trading 0.10 per cent down at 24,211 around 01:10 pm.
Balkrishna Industries (down 1.39 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.82 per cent), MRF (down 0.66 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.36 per cent), Apollo Tyres (down 0.34 per cent) and Bosch (down 0.13 per cent) too were losing in trade.
However, gains in Mahindra Mahindra (up 1.39 per cent), Cummins India (up 1.38 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.73 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (up 0.61 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 0.27 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.19 per cent) restricted the fall for the sectoral index.Benchmark BSE Sensex was 136 points down at 37,734, while the NSE Nifty50 index was down 38 points at 11,391.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 were trading in the green, while 28 were in the red.
In the Sensex index, 15 stocks were advancing, while 16 were incurring losses.Vedanta, State Bank of India and YES Bank were leading among Sensex losers.
