NEW DELHI: With over 4.25 crore shares changing hands, Infibeam Avenues was leading among most traded stocks on NSE in morning trade on Friday.YES Bank (number of shares traded: 4.05 crore) and Punjab National Bank (PNB) (2.02 crore) were up next.Reliance Communications (1.95 crore), JP Associates (1.73 crore), DHFL (1.45 crore), GMR Infra (1.20 crore), Suzlon Energy (1.04 crore), Vodafone Idea (0.79 crore) and Reliance Power (0.76 crore) also featured among the most traded stocks on NSE.YES Bank (Rs 767.08 crore), on the other hand, was leading the pack of most active stocks in value terms.It was followed by, Infibeam Avenues (Rs 464.50 crore), DHFL (Rs 399.34 crore), Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs 337.05 crore) and Maruti Suzuki (Rs 292.13 crore).HDFC (Rs 271.33 crore), Bajaj Finance (Rs 245.20 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 189.19 crore), Tata Steel (Rs 172.73 crore) and JSW Steel (Rs 171.29 crore) also featured in the league of most active stocks in value terms.
Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty opened higher on first day of October futures and options series, but failed to hold altitude and turned negative soon after bouts of selling emerged in most sectors.
The NSE Nifty index was trading 25 points down at 10,952, while the BSE Sensex was down 30 points at 36,294 around 10:10 am.Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 16 were advancing and 34 were declining.GAIL (India), HDFC, Bharti Infratel, Asian Paints and Tata Motors were among top gainers in the Nifty index.YES Bank, Tata Steel, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Vedanta and Bharti Airtel were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
