NEW DELHI: Metal shares were trading lower with the Nifty Metal index trading 1.49 per cent down at 3,297.95 around 11:06 am on Thursday with all its components trading in the red.
Shares of Welspun Corp (down 3.52 per cent), Vedanta (down 2.83 per cent), Hindalco Industries (down 2.65 per cent) and APL Apollo Tubes (down 2.11 per cent) were the top losers in the index.
Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 2.04 per cent), NMDC (down 1.86 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 1.70 per cent) and Hindustan Copper (down 1.57 per cent), too appeared among major laggards.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 119.20 points at 10,105.55 while BSE Sensex was down 401.84 points at 33,632.12 at that time.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 6 were trading in the green, while 44 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, LT Fin Holding, SBI, Idea Cellular, ICICI Bank, Wipro, RIL, Tata Motors, HPCL, Ashok Leyland, Bharti Airtel, Indian Oil Corp, Motherson Sumi and Bank of Baroda were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
