NEW DELHI: Shares of Vodafone Idea plunged nearly 7 per cent in early trade on Monday after the company in a BSE filing clarified that it had not considered any proposal to sell its fibre assets to Bharti Infratel.Denying reports that Bharti lnfratel may buy the fibre assets of VIL, the company said the board of directors of the company has not considered any such proposal.Shares of the company opened at Rs 42.30 and cracked 6.76 per cent to touch Rs 40 on BSE.
However, the scrip managed to pare some losses and traded 2.80 per cent down at Rs 41.70 around 10 am.
The benchmark Sensex was 0.35 per cent up at 35,580 around that time.Other telecom players such as Bharti Airtel (down 2.52 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 2.37 per cent) and MTNL (down 1.88 per cent) also traded in the negative territory.A Trai report published on Thursday showed except for Reliance Jio, none others could meet the call drop benchmark in drive test.
Either 3G or 2G networks of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and state-run BSNL failed to meet the call drop benchmarks.
