NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading in the green with the Nifty IT index up 1.1 per cent at 14,623.9 on Friday.Shares of Infibeam Avenues (up 2.91 per cent), Wipro (up 2.38 per cent), Tata Elxsi (up 2.34 per cent) and NIIT Technologies (up 1.40 per cent), were the top performers in the index.Infosys (up 1.13 per cent), MindTree (up 1.04 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 0.95 per cent) too were trading in the green.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 47 points at 10,905.7 while BSE Sensex was up 173.65 points at 36,344.06 around 11:11 am.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Idea Cellular, ICICI Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Indian Oil Corp, ONGC, SAIL, Bank of Baroda and SBI were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
