Government prepares to establish a nationwide mission on biomass use in thermal power plantsConcerned over circumstances of growing air pollution due to farm stubble burning, the Government has actually decided to set up a National Objective on usage of biomass in coal based thermal power plants.Power Ministry sources said that this step will also assist in decreasing carbon footprints of thermal power generation.Another significant goals of the nationwide mission will be to ensure a bigger share of carbon neutral power generation from the thermal power plants and also to increase the level of co-firing from present 5 percent to higher levels.While the methods of working and structure of the suggested nationwide objective are being exercised, sources informed that it would have a guiding committee headed by the Secretary in the Power Ministry.
