Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday called for inheriting and carrying forward the Bandung Spirit to build a common home of peace, tranquility, prosperity, beauty and friendship.Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks in a written speech to a roundtable on carrying forward the Bandung Spirit held in Beijing.Wang said over the past 70 years, Asian and African countries, inspired by the Bandung Spirit, have increasingly become an important force in maintaining peace, promoting development and deepening cooperation.Today, people of all countries generally hope to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve common development, but power politics and unilateral bullying are still undermining international rules and creating divisions and confrontations, Wang said.He urged efforts to advocate for a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, safeguard the multilateral trading system, oppose unilateral protectionism and build an open world economy.Noting that China is committed to building a community with a shared future for mankind, he said it will provide new opportunities, create new space and inject new impetus for the development of the Global South and other countries in the world.
