A special investigative committee has been named to probe the awful bus mishap, which declared the lives of 22 individuals in Gerandi Ella, Ramboda in the early hours of Sunday (11 ), Police said.The five-member committee has been selected on the instruction of the Acting Inspector General of Police.The committee will be headed by Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Ajith Rohana.Four other senior Police officers have been consisted of in the committee which is tasked with recognizing the reason for the tragic accident.The group will concentrate on numerous recognized areas during the questions and is expected to supply recommendations to lessen future accidents.Meanwhile, according to the Nuwara Eliya District Chief Motor Vehicle Inspector Jaliya Bandara, initial investigations had actually exposed that the awful bus mishap was not caused by a mechanical flaw in the vehicle.Jaliya Bandara said it is suspected that the bus was strained and that the motorist may have gone to sleep on the wheel due to fatigue.He even more specified that a thorough investigation is currently being performed by a special committee selected to take a look at the incident.Jaliya Bandara included that the exact situations leading to the accident will be disclosed upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.Around 40 people who sustained injuries in the bus mishap in Gerandi Ella, Ramboda are presently receiving in-house treatment at health centers, Police said.According to medical facility sources, a few of them remain in critical condition.Individuals who were hurt in the mishap were confessed to hospitals in Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale Gampola, Nawalapitiya, Peradeniya and Kandy.Those confessed to the Kotmale medical facility have been discharged.Meanwhile, 5 people are currently getting treatment at the Nawalapitiya District General Hospital while 22 persons are at the Gampola Teaching Hospital.Furthermore, 15 persons hurt in Sundays mishap are receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya General Hospital with 2 of them in vital condition.Moreover, a few others in critical condition are admitted to the Kandy National Hospital and the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.An overall of 22 individuals died in the mishap that happened in Gerandi Ella, Ramboda in the early hours of Sunday.A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus operating from Kataragama to Kurunegala through Nuwara Eliya drifted off the roadway and fell down a precipice on the Nuwara Eliya - Gampola main road.Rescue and recovery operations continued for several hours with the participation of Police, tri-forces personnel and area residents.Those hurt were at first rushed to the Kotmale and Nuwara Eliya hospitals.Subsequently they were transferred to other health centers.
