Irina Podnosova, the Chief Justice of Russias Supreme Court, has actually passed away at the age of 72, Russian media reported Tuesday.Podnosova, who was selected to the courts leading post in April 2024, died of cancer, a source told the business daily Kommersant.
She supposedly continued working while going through treatment.She was successful longtime Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev, who passed away in February 2024 following an extended health problem.
Lebedev had led the court since 1989.
Podnosova, a former classmate of President Vladimir Putin, was selected by the Federation Council on the presidents suggestion.
