Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega voiced dissatisfaction over the European Union’s (EU) conduct at the recent summit with the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).Ortega critiqued the EU for their insistence on Ukraine’s President Volodomir Zelenski’s presence and the declaration concerning Ukraine that lacked a unanimous consensus.Ortega emphasized that decisions at these summits traditionally require a consensus.Ortega also voiced concern over the exclusion of a call to end economic sanctions against Nicaragua and Venezuela in the adopted agreement.Daniel Ortega.

(Photo Internet reprodcution)He highlighted that the EU rejected the proposal for an end to policies of aggression and sanctions.During a celebration of the 44th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution, Ortega remembered the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, expressing gratitude for his solidarity with Nicaragua.He stated that Gaddafi had been a force for unity in the Arab world.Ortega also communicated a message to his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, calling for an understanding to reach a border agreement in light of recent developments with the International Court of Justice.While observing the anniversary, Ortega also criticized the United States and shared his view that the country’s protests in 2018 were a result of external influence.The celebrations included performances by musical groups and an appearance by thousands of Sandinista supporters.
