VIZIANAGARAM: A judge for the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram on Friday sentenced a 40-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting his 10-year-old daughter and his daughters friend (who is also minor) in Parvathipuram town of Manyam district a year ago.
Besides imposing a fine of Rs 10,000, the court of Shaik Sikandar Basha also directed the state government to pay Rs four lakh compensation each to the survivors.The Parvathipuram Manyam district police said that the survivor approached the police on July 14, 2022 and lodged a complaint against her father saying that she was sexually assaulted by him.
The girl, (a Class IV student) mentioned that her mother left home a few years ago and her father, who works at an iron shop, sexually assaulted her when she was asleep.He threatened her with dire consequences.The accused also sexually assaulted his daughters friend when she came to his home to meet his daughter.Based on the complaints from the victim, the Manyam district police investigated the case and arrested the accused under Section 376 of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act 2012.The police completed the investigation procedure and filed the charge sheet.
After regular hearings, the judge pronounced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the accused.
