Chair of State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives Shashi Shrestha summoned Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa over the ‘encounter killing& of Sarlahi in-charge of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal Kumar Poudel.
As per the panelorder, the home minister will have to appear before the panel tomorrow.
The panel took the decision after some members of the committee, including ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Janardan Sharma, condemned the incident, saying it resembled extra judicial killings committed by the autocratic Panchayat regime. Sharma said he received report that Poudel was brutally killed by security personnel.
Sharma also condemned law enforcement officers& treatment meted out to Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal lawmaker Resham Chaudhary during his treatment.
Chaudhary, who was convicted in Tikapur killing case, is serving a jail term in Dillibazaar prison.
Sharma also opposed governmentpolicies regarding federalism. Nepali Congress lawmaker Dila Sangraula also said that Poudel was a victim of extra judicial killing.
Another NC lawmaker Dilendra Prasad Badu said since the PM was acting against federalism the panel should seek explanation from the PM himself and not other ministers.

Irate kin and friends of Bimala Tamang, 27, who was found hanging inside Samata Hospital on June 18, gathered outside Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, and staged protest demanding a thorough investigation into her death.
Relatives have accused three staffers of the hospital of murdering Bimala. She used to work as a cleaning staff at the Bouddha-based hospital. They had also filed an FIR against the staffers at the MPC on June 20.
The relatives lodged the complaint on the basis of a ‘suicide note& found in the pocket of the deceased.
The note mentioned two names, Tirtha Kumari Shrestha and Sangita K.C. The note also mentioned the word ‘ma&am&, which allegedly refers to Kala Adhikari Sanjel, wife of the hospital director Uttam Sanjel.
Police have taken three persons into custody following the FIR. The relatives of Bimala doubt that police were trying to botch up the investigation and convince them into signing a reconciliation paper with those arrested.
Santosh Lama, brother-in-law of the deceased said, &We have doubts about the police investigation as they have tried to convince us to reconcile since the day the incident took place. We want an unbiased investigation into the case.&
Deceasedfamily has been saying that the hospital administration denied entry to particular rooms in the hospital when the deceasedhusband had reached there on the eve of June 17, in search of his missing wife. &Bimalabody was found hanging in the same room, to which entry was denied the previous day,& Lama said.
They also claimed that the room where Bimala was found hanging, was locked from outside making the incident highly suspicious.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Singha Raj Yonjan said they were investigating the case asking the kin and family of the deceased to remain patient.
