Priority will be given to Jaffna products in duty free shop stalls in Palali airport, Petroleum Resources and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunge said in Jaffna.Minister Ranatunge made a visit to the Palali airport with a team of 80 officials to see the development project. Later, he had a discussions at the Jaffna Kachcheri with TNA MPs and some other officials. in that discussion he stated that priority must be given with regard to employment opportunities to people from the Northern Province. The first phase development work of the airport is scheduled to be completed on October 10, while flight services is scheduled to begin on October 15.

A separate fund will be created to assist in setting up businesses in Jaffna area said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Jaffna last week at a meeting held at the Jaffna Municipal Grounds after launching several development projects in the Jaffna area.He said that the fishing industry too will be improved so that fishermen can go fishing in the deep sea.

The Parliament Select Committee investigating the Easter Sunday terror attacks is scheduled to meet President Maithripala Sirisena on September 20, 2019. President Sirisena gave the date in a letter to the PSC yesterday, and the Select Committee will visit the Presidential Secretariat at 10 a.m. on the 20th morning to obtain the Presidentstatement, Committee chairman Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri said yesterday.
