The vegetable price which was incresed due to reacent rains, will be reduce with in couple of weeks said State Minister of Consumer Affairs, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa Today( 21). Addressing the press brefieng at the Prime Ministers office this morning state Minister further said that Price variation of vegetables are normal according to the seasonal pattern since, festive seasons have experienced this type of price changes from long time.
The price of other assential food items like, rice and suger will be reduce near future the minister added.

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said that the forensic audit report on the Central Bank bond scam will be tabled in the Parliament.The Speaker announced this when the Parliament convened at 1.00 pm today (21).The forensic audit report on the Central Bank bond scam was previously received by the Parliament and the Speaker has taken measures to abstain from releasing the aforesaid to Members of Parliament (MPs) upon the instruction of the Attorney General.
At the meeting of the Party Leaders and Political Party Representatives held at parliament on the 13th of January, parliamentarians have requested that the audit reports be released to them as soon as possible.Accordingly, the Speaker was due to make a final decision on releasing the relevant report to the MPs.

Showery condition is expected to enhance to some extent particularly in the South-western part of the island and in the Eastern, North-central, Uva and Central provinces today and tomorrow. Several spells of showers will occur in the Eastern, Uva and North-central provinces and in Hambanthota and Matale districts. A few showers are likely in Northern Province.Showers or thundershowers will occur at a several places in Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts after 2.00 p.m.Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa province and in Kaluthara and Galle districts.Wind speed can be increased up to 40 kmph at times in Mannar, Puttalam and Hambanthota districts.Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning.General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Four new ambassadors along with a new High Commissioner concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka presented their credentials to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the PresidentHouse in Colombo yesterday (20). The ambassadors of the State of Qatar and Republic of Turkey as well as the Pakistan High Commissioner will be based in Colombo. The ambassadors to the Grand Duchy of Luxemburg and Slovenia will be based in New Delhi.
After the presentation ceremony, welcoming the delegates the President spoke of strengthening bilateral relations and expanding on areas of common interests such as education, development, technology and agriculture. The new diplomats also expressed their commitment to uphold the long ties their countries had had with Sri Lanka and work with Sri Lanka to develop on the common interests as mentioned by President.
Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena also spoke and noted that Sri Lanka always had maintained cordial relations with all five countries.
The envoys who presented their credentials today are:
