President Gotabaya Rajapaksa emphasized the need of preventing brain drain to achieve rapid development in the country ‘If the Government as well as the private sector can ensure that a high standard of education is provided by local universities and other higher educational institutions, it may even be possible for us to start attracting international students to study in Sri Lanka and convert the higher education sector into a foreign exchange earner for the country&, the President said.The President made these remarks addressing the Convocation of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University held at the BMICH, yesterday (10).

FOREIGN MINISTER CONCLUDES THE FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT TO INDIA

Industrial production grew 1.3% in 2019

12 hour water cut for some areas in Colombo

A 12-hour water cut will be imposed in several areas in Colombo from tonight (10), stated the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB). Accordingly, the aforementioned water cut will commence at 10 pm tonight and continue until 10 am tomorrow (11).The water cut will be imposed in Colombo 13, 14 and 15, stated the NWSDB.Further, low-pressure water supply could be experienced in Colombo 01 and 11.
