The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) is to issue directives to the banking sector on the concessionary loan package proposed by the government to uplift Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) with faulted business having failed to repay their loans.The concessionary loan package was proposed under the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the Treasury to pay the Mahapola Scholarship installments, which have not yet been paid, to the students within the next week, Higher Education Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said. He made this observation at a press brief held at the Audeitorium of the Government Information Department last Saturday (11).

On the instructions of the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Irrigation Director General has launched a major tanks rehabilitation programme completely deviating from the traditional contracts system. Seventy five major tanks coming under the Irrigation Department will be rehabilitated restored and renovated sans contractors under the Irrigation Prosperity Programme, using departmental staff and its own heavy machinery and equipment.

Three top officials from Russia, China, and the United States will be visiting Sri Lanka tomorrow (13).Foreign Minister of the PeopleRepublic of China Wang Yi, during his visit, is scheduled to hold talks with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Affairs Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and other high officials.
