Cement Customers to get direct benefit of Tax Reductions

Tokyo Cement Group announces that they will directly pass on the benefit of the recently announced Tax Reduction by the Government, to all their customers. Tokyo Cement Group, the countrylargest manufacturer and supplier of cement, made this announcement following the governmentdecision to remove the Nation Building Tax (NBT) and reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) from 15% to 8%.

Abeysinghe dominates swimming with seven golds

Olympian Matthew Abeysinghe dominated swimming winning a further three more gold medals on the ninth day of 13th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu Nepal yesterday to take his tally to seven gold medals.The SAG will be officially concluded today with a grand closing ceremony.India becomes the champions of the SAG with 138 gold medals and they only participated in only 17 sports events. Host Nepal secured the runners up berth with 49 golds and Sri Lanka were placed third with 39 medals.

Vietnam track stars run away with golds at SEA Games

Sri Lanka improves in human development

Sri Lanka has progressively improved in human development over the years and is ranked 71 out of 189 countries in the Human Development Report 2019 released Monday by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).According to the report titled "Beyond income, beyond averages, beyond today: Inequalities in human development in the 21st century", Sri Lanka's Human Development Index (HDI) has progressively increased up to 0.780 in 2018 from 0.625 in 1990 in a scale ranging between 0-1.
