Six new Governors were sworn in before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today (21).

They were:

Ranil resigns, Mahinda takes oaths as PM today

Opposition Leader and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be sworn in as the Prime Minister today at 1.00 p.m. Spokesman for the Opposition Leader Rohan Weliwita speaking to media said that Rajapaksa will then assume duties as the new Prime Minister at the Prime MinisterOffice at 3.00 p.m. today. This follows the resignation announced last evening of UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister.

Governors informed to tender resignations

All the Provincial Governors have been informed to tender their resignation by the PresidentSecretariat today. As per the request several governors including Sabaragamuwa Governor Dhamma Dissnayake and Western Province Governor A. J.M. Muzammil vacated their posts today. &The Presidential Secretariat informed all Provincial Governors to resign from their respective posts& spokesman of PresidentSecretariat said.
