NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading higher in Friday's morning session.Shares of HCL Technologies (up 1.45 per cent) , Wipro (up 1.24 per cent) and Tata Elxsi (up 1.22 per cent) were the top gainers in the index.
Tata Consultancy Services (up 0.36 per cent), Tech Mahindra (up 0.20 per cent) and Mindtree (up 0.06 per cent) too were in the green.
The Nifty IT index was trading 0.51 per cent up at 15,667.65 around 10:45 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 2.65 points at 10,792.50 while the BSE Sensex was up 5.96 points at 35,904.31.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 were trading in the green, while 16 were in the red.
Shares of Kotak Bank, YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Motherson Sumi, ONGC, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Indian Oil Corp, Vedanta, Vodafone Idea and BEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
