NEW DELHI: Metal shares were with gains in Wednesday's morning session.
Shares of JSW Steel (up 3.13 per cent) , Tata Steel (up 2.52 per cent) , Jindal Steel - Power (up 2.45 per cent) , Steel Authority of India (up 2.34 per cent) , Hindustan Copper (up 1.94 per cent) , Hindalco Industries (up 1.84 per cent) , VEDL (up 1.76 per cent) , Hindustan Zinc (up 1.61 per cent) , National Aluminium Company (up 1.56 per cent) , MOIL (up 1.31 per cent) , Coal India (up 0.9 per cent) , APL Apollo Tubes (up 0.71 per cent) , Welspun Corp (up 0.71 per cent) , Ratnamani Metals - Tubes (up 0.12 per cent) and NMDC Ltd (up 0.04 per cent) were among the top gainers.
The Nifty Metal index was trading 1.82 per cent up at 2690.3 around 10:20 am.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 77.80 points at 12133.6 , while the BSE Sensex was up 246.19 points at 41213.05 .
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 41 were trading in the green, while 9 were in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SAIL, Bharti Airtel, United Spirits, SBI, ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Oil Corp were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
