
Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that China and Russia will work together to safeguard the victorious outcome of World War II and resolutely oppose hegemonism and power politics.Xi made the remarks in a written statement upon his arrival in Moscow for a state visit to Russia and attendance at the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War.China and Russia, both major countries of the world and permanent members of the UN Security Council, will join hands to firmly safeguard the UN-centered international system and the international order underpinned by international law, practice true multilateralism and promote the building of a more just and equitable global governance system, he said.China and Russia are good neighbors who cannot be moved apart, true friends who stand together through thick and thin and partners who achieve mutual success, Xi added.He said China and Russia have found the right path of state-to-state interactions between neighboring major countries and forged the spirit of strategic coordination for the new era.The independent, mature and resilient relationship not only brings tremendous benefits to the peoples of both nations, but also makes significant contributions to safeguarding global strategic stability and advancing a more equitable and orderly multipolar world, the Chinese president said.Xi said he will have in-depth communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin on bilateral ties and major international and regional issues of common concern.(With input from Xinhua)
