Domestic financing up 2.2% of estimated GDP

Domestic financing increased to 2.2 per cent of estimated GDP compared to 1.5 per cent in the corresponding period in 2018, while foreign financing as a percentage of estimated GDP remained unchanged at 0.6 per cent as recorded in the corresponding period of 2018.In nominal terms, outstanding central government debt increased to Rs. 12,161.2 billionn by end May 2019 from Rs. 11,977.5 billion at end 2018. Accordingly, total outstanding domestic debt increased by 4.5 per cent to Rs. 6,291.5 billion, and the rupee value of total outstanding foreign debt declined by 1.5 per cent to Rs. 5,869.7 billion by end May 2019.

Two new State Ministers

Two new State Ministers have been sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena, this morning (05).Accordingly, MP Anoma Gamage has been appointed the State Minister of Petroleum Resources Development while MP Lucky Jayawardena was appointed the State Minister of City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education.Previously, Anoma Gamage had been serving as the Acting Minister of Petroleum Resources, Highways and Road Development. Jayawardena has been made the State Minister of the same ministry he had been serving as the Acting Minister of.The new State Ministers have taken oath at the PresidentHouse, stated PresidentMedia Division. Dengue kills 47, ails 234,078 this year

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, by August this year 234,078 dengue cases and 47 dengue deaths were reported. Last year 58 dengue deaths were reported. The sources said 47 dengue deaths is alarming since the number was reported in six months. Therefore, the public should take steps to destroy mosquito breeding sites regularly. They should at least use 30 minutes per week in this regard.
