
The annual Cross-Straits Youth Summit opened in Beijing on Thursday, gathering more than 700 people from all strolls of life, in addition to youth representatives from both sides of the Taiwan Straits.At the opening event, Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that more youthful generations on both sides of the Straits play a key role as participants and promoters of nationwide rejuvenation, from which they will benefit.He called on them to securely oppose Taiwan independence separatism and foreign interference, and to actively participate in cross-Straits exchanges and integrated development.Ma Ying-jeou, previous chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang celebration, resolved the opening ceremony through video.
He motivated young people on both sides to increase exchanges and learn from each other, working together to open an intense future for the Chinese nation.A series of forums and an exhibit showcasing sci-tech and cultural integrated development will be held throughout this years summit.
