
The Huawei Developer Conference 2025 (HDC 2025) officially opened on June 20 in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, China, gathering top tech talents and industry leaders.
The event marked significant milestones for Huawei's HarmonyOS ecosystem, signaling its rapid advancement in the global smart operating system arena.At the conference, Yu Chengdong, Huawei's executive director and CEO of the Consumer Business Group, announced the launch of the developer beta of HarmonyOS 6, a major leap forward for Huawei's all-scenario intelligent operating system.
HarmonyOS 6 promises millisecond-level low-latency interaction, enhanced AI capabilities and the debut of the HarmonyOS Multi-Agent Framework (HMAF).
This new framework aims to revolutionize human-device collaboration, integrating AI directly into the operating system's core.Notable features of HarmonyOS 6 include "Tap-to-Share," enabling seamless file transfers between smartphones and PCs, and cross-device content insertion, which boosts multi-user productivity.
The system also expands into daily life, supporting smart parking, quick fuel payments, and fortified privacy protection. In addition to the OS upgrade, Huawei officially unveiled the HarmonyOS Agent Framework.
Over 50 initial HarmonyOS agents will soon launch, covering diverse sectors such as e-commerce (JD.com), media (Sina), education, healthcare and finance.
These agents will leverage HMAF to offer intelligent, personalized services across multiple scenarios.Yu also highlighted the remarkable growth of the OpenHarmony open-source project, the foundation of HarmonyOS.
With over 130 million lines of code, nearly 9,000 community contributors and more than 1,200 software and hardware products, OpenHarmony has become one of the world's fastest-growing open-source operating systems.
Currently, more than 40 Huawei devices run HarmonyOS 5, which has added over 260 new features and addressed 2.16 million user requests.Huawei is actively rallying developers to join the HarmonyOS ecosystem, offering robust support through initiatives like the Hongfei and Yaoxing programs.
With 8 million registered developers already on board, the ecosystem boasts over 30,000 apps and meta-services under development.
In the enterprise sector, HarmonyOS has penetrated 38 million+ businesses, streamlining office efficiency and security.As HDC 2025 unfolds, Huawei reaffirms its commitment to open-source collaboration.
