Casting of postal votes for security personnel commences

The casting of postal votes for security personnel commenced this morning. According to the National Elections Commission officials attached to the Police, Elections offices and District Secretariats can cast their postal votes today and tomorrow, and Anyone who cannot cast their vote on any of these days as postal voting can be done so on the 7th of November at District polling centers.

45,000 polling booths for Prez. Polls

The Elections Commission (EC) will set up 45,000 polling booths for voters countrywide for the Presidential Election 2019 on November 16.EC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya has confirmed these facts, said W.M. EC receives 2,672 prez poll-related complaints

The Elections Commission has received a total of 2,672 complaints from October 8 to Nov.2 regarding election law violations and violent activities, the Commission said.It said 24 violent activities had been reported to the National Election Complaint Management Centre and District Election Complaint Management Centres while2,553 1election law violations were reported to the respective centres.95 other cases had also been reported.

Litro makes an urgent purchase of 12,000 MT of LP gas

The Ministry of Finance has taken measures to immediately purchase 12,000 Metric Tons (MT) of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as a remedy for the LP gas shortage currently in the market. Steps will be taken for the Litro Gas Company, which comes under the Ministry of Finance, to import the stock and release to the market immediately, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

Lanka moves up in EoDBI ranking

Sri Lanka has improved its position in Ease of Doing Business Index (EoDBI) to the 99th position in 2020 as per the EoDBI report released by the World Bank last week.
