Army contingent for UN peacekeeping in Mali prepares to leave

The next batch of the Mali-bound Combat Convoy Company (CCC) of the Sri Lanka Army is preparing to leave for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).The new contingent of 243 Army personnel of the Sri Lanka Army this morning (06) presented a formal military salute to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Headquarters at Boyagane.

President felicitates young Inventor for his achievement in Olympiad

Pasindu Mihiran, one of the top ten inventors of the Korea international Youth Olympiad (KIYO) 2019 who invented modified Yoghurt Cup to Prevent Spreading of Mosquitoes met President Maithripala Sirisena at PresidentOffice Monday (05). Korea international Youth Olympiad (KIYO) 2019, which aims at fostering global leadership through creativity and teamwork, was held on October 5th and 6th in Seoul, Korea with the participation of over 400 new inventors representing 37 countries. President appreciated the talent shown by Pasindu, a Grade 11 student of Gokarella Central College won a Gold Medal with a Special Award for his invention and presented him with a computer for his studies.
