
Chinas consumer costs edged up in April from the previous month, reversing a decline in March, while factory-gate costs extended their year-on-year slide, main data revealed on Saturday.The consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.1 percent in April on a month-on-month basis, after falling 0.4 percent in March, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
On an annual basis, the CPI fell by 0.1 percent, unchanged from the previous month.Meanwhile, the producer price index (PPI) dropped 0.4 percent month on month, matching Marchs rate.
The PPI fell by 2.7 percent on a year-on-year basis, broadening from the 2.5 percent drop recorded in March.Dong Lijuan, chief statistician at the NBS, associated the change to external elements, keeping in mind that imported impacts have actually weighed on costs in specific industries.However, Dong highlighted that Chinas economic principles remain solid and durable, supported by collaborated macroeconomic policies and steady progress in high-quality advancement.
