
The 2025 Shanghai International Film Festival will kick off on June 13 and run until June 22, followed by the Shanghai TV Festival from June 23 to 27, the event's organizers announced at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday.The two annual events, jointly organized by the China Media Group and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, will see more than 3,900 films and nearly 1,000 TV programs compete for the Golden Goblet Award and the Magnolia Award.The jury committees for the two main competition categories have also been announced.Renowned Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore will chair the jury for the main Golden Goblet Awards' competition, while Chinese actorChen Baoguo will be jury president for the Magnolia Award in the TV category.This year's film festival sees the introduction of improved selection of more distinctive screenings to offer a broader range of perspectives.
A new "Asia Now" section has been added to underline the festival's focus on Asia.To mark the 50th anniversary of China-EU relations and 55 years of China-Italy ties, a special Italian Film Week event will showcase over 20 Italian cinematic masterpieces across nearly 100 screenings, including films such as "Rome" and "Cinema Paradiso."A full schedule of screenings will be announced on June 3, and tickets will go on sale on June 5 at 12:00 pm on the Damai and Taopiaopiao ticketing platforms.
