
China and Brazil provided a joint statement on the Ukraine crisis on Tuesday, inviting Russian President Vladimir Putins proposal to open peace talks and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyys positive response.The declaration stated that China and Brazil hope that Russia and Ukraine will begin a direct dialogue as quickly as possible, which is the only method to end the conflict.It stated that China and Brazil commend current signals of willingness to engage in dialogue on the Ukraine crisis and expect relevant parties to start worthwhile settlements, construct a higher agreement to attain a political settlement and deal with the legitimate issues of all celebrations.
China and Brazil believe it is required to find an option to the Ukraine crisis by analyzing its root cause, with the aim of reaching a reasonable, lasting and binding peace agreement.The declaration stated that to accomplish that objective, China and Brazil in May 2024 contacted all relevant parties to create the conditions for the resumption of discussion and introduced the Group of Friends for Peace at the United Nations in September of the same year, with the aim of unifying the countries of the Global South.China and Brazil want to work with the remainder of the Global South to continue making active efforts to deal with the crisis, the declaration stated.
